Contra Dance Calling: Past Gigs
When I'm not busy calling or playing music, very often I can be found dancing at community contra dance series, contra dance weekends, and also modern western square dances from time to time. Many dancers all over the mid-Atlantic and midwest still know me as a dance gypsy first, and that is important to me. I am one of them, and I have a keen grasp of what today's dancers love in their callers. I take the fun that I experience out on the dance floor and do my best to bring that sense of fun to the mic.
Since 2009, the dynamic lifestyle of a touring dance caller and dance DJ has allowed me the pleasure of bringing fun, building community and forging cherished friendships both in my home region of central Virginia and in over 10 states east of the Mississippi ... and counting! I have brought my joy of dance to dozens of open public contra dance series, several major contra dance weekends such as LEAF, a number of regional techno contras including my own project "Club Contras", birthday parties, wedding receptions, small community gatherings, and so on. I can hardly believe I am lucky enough to have this much fun!
